Inclusive Community & Social Care Development

creating alternatives to traditional disability service models

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve more than traditional, compliance-driven service models. They deserve dignified, community-based approaches that foster authentic belonging, meaningful work, and visible roles in everyday life.

Our consulting service, led by Blawesome co-founder Rebecca Sorensen, MSW, helps organizations, communities, and families create those alternatives.

Rebecca’s approach is rooted in both professional practice and lived experience—she doesn’t just advise on inclusive models, she operates one.

Speaking & Presentations
Social Care, Community, and Systems Change

I offer presentations and facilitated conversations on social care, inclusive community design, and the broader impact of social care on individuals, communities, and public systems. Drawing from lived experience and nearly two decades of practice, I speak to how community-rooted approaches to care influence health, belonging, workforce development, and civic life—and why social care is inseparable from policy and politics.
Presentations can be tailored for conferences, universities, nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and community groups.

meet Rebecca Sorensen, MSW

As a macro social worker with nearly two decades of experience, Rebecca designs and implements community-based initiatives for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At Blawesome, a social care farming operation she runs with her autistic son, she demonstrates daily what’s possible when we design support systems around contribution instead of compliance. Her work is collaborative, strengths-based, and deeply relational—bridging social services, agriculture, housing, workforce development, and narrative change.
